Andreas plays the 1707 ‘Boni-Hegar’ Stradivarius, which has been made available to him by the generous support of Norwegian art collector Christen Sveaas. He participated in 2010, 2012 and 2016, plays one of the 40 surviving Stradivarius cellos thanks to our founder Truls Mørk, and was overjoyed when Christian asked him if he would join him here as an artistic leader. Andreas spiller på en Boni-Hegar Stradivarius fra 1707. Andreas Brantelid has performed throughout the world, with prominent orchestras and conductors. Examples include orchestras like London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Champs-Elysées and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Among the world conductors he has worked with are Andris Nelsons, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Philippe In 2014, Andreas Brantelid was appointed adjunct professor at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus. Andreas won 1st Prize in the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition (2006) and the Paulo International Cello Competition (2007).
Andreas Brantelid was born in 1987 to Swedish/Danish parents. He started playing the cello from a very early age, studying with his father Ingemar. He made his concerto debut at the age of 14 with the Royal Danish Orchestra in Copenhagen playing the Elgar Cello Concerto.
